Session 3
The Shepherd and Creation
What does the Bible say about the beginning of all things?
Genesis 1-31. 1-5 — Day One. 6-8 — Day Two. 9-13 — Day Three. 14-19 — Day Four. 20-23 —Day Five. 24-31 — Day Six.
It could all be looked at in the following breakdown of the ages. Age of Universe Creation. Age of Water Formation. Age of Land Formation. Age of Vegetation. Age of transformation of the Sun’s Energy. Age of Marine Life. Age of life on the Land and Man.
Read what John says at the beginning of his Gospel, John 1:1-5.
From these thoughts, see how The Shepherd, who was intimately involved with everything that has ever been created, is passionate about His creation. As all of us, whether we believe it or not, are made in His image. Is there anyone living who looks up at the sky at night and not stare at the wonder of it all?
There is a calling for each of us to ensure that all of creation is looked after, whether it be the Earth that we live on, the animal kingdom, the plant life, the insect life, the natural resources above and below the earth and even Space. There is rubbish on and under the soil, the oceans are full of plastic of every description, and the sky is damaged in ways we have not yet understood. Think what is happening in space, with all the derelict satellites spinning around the world? Reading the Bible, we should keep those who govern our countries, informed about what we believe with regards to creation, and hold them to account for what they do with it in our name.
The least we should do is pray for the whole of creation.
Questions:
- Do you stand in awe when you see the wonders of creation? If not, ask the Shepherd to show you the wonders that He has created for you.
- As you read scripture regarding creation, are you moved to speak on its behalf?
